What is the function of Bovine Serum Albumin(BSA) in subculturing anchorage cells?

PBSA is added to a monolayer (which had its medium removed) and then removed before addition of trypsin..why is PBSA used instead of PBSB? is it because PBSB has magnesium and calcium and that PBSA contains the BSA? (please correct me if im wrong) and what is BSA’s function?
